TOUR 4 OF QATAR EQUESTRIAN TOUR – LONGINES HATHAB SUPPORTED BY THE SOCIAL & SPORT CONTRIBUTION FUND DELIVERS EXCITING SHOWJUMPING PERFORMANCES

Tour 4 of Qatar Equestrian Tour – Longines Hathab Supported By The Social & Sport Contribution Fund 2020/2021 delivered a feast of spectacular showjumping performances, continuing the exciting start to Season 4 of Qatar’s premier local horse-riding series. The fourth Tour of the popular annual competition took place over two days, on November 20 and 21, at Qatar Equestrian Federation Indoor Arena.

 

Day 1

Mohammed Khalifa Albaker maintained his recent fine form by riding Verona to a flawless victory in the Medium Tour category, winning the 130cm class in a jump off time of 33.05 seconds. Salman Mohammed Al Emadi, finished closely behind Albaker in 33.74 seconds, astride Zorro Z, while Cyrine Cherif claimed the final spot on the winner’s podium, riding Brennus Villelongue to third place, in 34.74 seconds.

Albaker and Verona also tasted victory in the Medium Tour Team category, partnering with Alqaqa Adel Nassar on Carport to lead Limited Edition Cars to top honors. QAF took second place, and ExxonMobil third.

Omar Al Mannai, Vice Chairman, Organizing Committee, Longines Hathab, and Ahmed Younes Bedoui, President of the Ground Jury (Show Jumping), Longines Hathab, awarded the Medium Tour winners in both the individual and team categories.

Earlier, the Small Tour kicked off the day’s action. Khalifa Abdulla Al Khaldi continued his good performances in in the category, riding Dusty to first place in 49.89 seconds. Saad Ahmed Al Saad ended second on Fito R, in 52.85 seconds, with Harir Alhies and Arselina claiming the final place on the podium.

It was Khaldi’s second Small Tour victory of the season, having won the event in the first Tour, while he also finished second in Tour 2.

Day 2

Salman Mohammed Al Emadi proved that he is a rider in red-hot form as he rode Toymaker to  victory in the Big Tour. He won a closely contested 140cm class in a time of 42.11 seconds. Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi, astride Cantinero, finished second in 42.13 seconds. Mohammed Khalifa Albaker rounded out the Big Tour winner’s list, adding to his triumphs on Day 1.

Al Emadi’s triumph in the showpiece event of the second day followed his runners-up spot in the Medium Tour on Day 1 of Tour 4, and his Open Class victory and Big Tour third place in Tour 3.

The Big Tour winners were awarded by Hamad bin Abdulrahman Al Attiyah, Chairman, Organizing Committee, Longines Hathab, and Yousef Al Nuaimi, Director, Shared Services, Social & Sport Contribution Fund.

In the Open Class category, meanwhile, Mohammed Al Ghazali emerged triumphant after a thrilling display of showjumping in the two-phase class, riding Dino BB Z to top spot after rounds of  43.14 seconds and 23.96 seconds. Bandar Mansoor Al Hoban finished second on Goliat, after times of 46.96 seconds and 24.18 seconds, while Nasser Al Ghazali rode What A Pleasure to third place in 45.76 seconds and 24.53 seconds.

awarded the Open Class winners.

For the health and safety of equestrian fans, and in line with national COVID-19 precautionary measures, spectators were not allowed into the arena. However, fans were able to follow the thrilling action live on Al Kass TV.

Qatar Equestrian Tour – Longines Hathab Supported By The Social & Sport Contribution Fund is organized and hosted jointly by Qatar Equestrian Federation and Al Shaqab, member of Qatar Foundation. It comprises individual and team competitions over 12 legs, from October 2020 to March 2021.

Longines, ExxonMobil, and Salam International are the main partners of the Qatar Equestrian Tour, which is supported by The Social & Sport Contribution Fund (Daam).

Tour 4 dressage is scheduled to take place on November 28, at QEF Indoor Arena.
